I’m giving up,
Not on life,
But on waiting for you
To stop winking
And start doing.
Your hearts stay in the past
Where they belong,
As your kind words fade
To the ash I guess they always were.
Red flags:
They’re there for a reason,
Least that’s what grandma says.
Romcoms and fairy tales break
Under the weight of real life
As friendships stale
And lovers start to hate.
God has a plan,
So I’m giving up.
He’ll take care of the rest,
And you don’t need me
Holding you from those things He’s planned.
Likewise,
I don’t need you.
